Direct answer: identify the washable object in the objective list, enable its hint, stand far enough back to see the whole object, then scan top-to-bottom and left-to-right while changing your angle at corners.
Use Objective Hints first
OFFICIAL: a show/hide setting for Objective Hints was added in the August 19 patch. Turn hints on only for the search, use the direction to choose an object or area, and then inspect that target closely. A hint points you toward the search area; it does not replace a surface-by-surface check.
Read highlight effects carefully
The same patch changed highlight colors and visibility to make dirt and stains easier to see. Move the camera rather than holding one fixed angle. Highlights may become clearer when a wall is viewed from the side, when the sky is not directly behind it, or when your tool is aimed along a narrow edge.
The slow sweep method
- Choose one structure and finish it before crossing the map.
- Step back and divide the structure into top, middle, and bottom bands.
- Sweep the pressure washer horizontally across each band with slight overlap.
- Walk around the object and repeat on backs, sides, posts, and undersides.
- Inspect borders where two materials meet, then recheck the objective list.
Surface categories to inspect
| Surface group | Common blind spot | Search technique |
|---|---|---|
| Walls and facades | Above openings, low base strips, returns at corners | Scan in horizontal bands from two angles |
| Fences and rails | Post backs, thin rails, gaps between elements | Walk both sides and aim along the rail |
| Steps and paths | Risers, outer edges, undersides, material seams | Alternate high and low camera positions |
| Small props | Back faces, feet, narrow trim | Circle each object before moving on |
Patch context
OFFICIAL: the August 19 update improved highlight visibility and corrected Zoo Enclosure hints that had pointed toward trees instead of walls. The August 26 update improved dirt and stain visibility on difficult Trailer Park surfaces. Those notes describe fixes already shipped; they should not be presented as unavoidable current problems.
When the missing item is not dirt
If the washable objective is complete, stop respraying the map. Check whether the remaining category is vegetation or litter. Cut grass and weeds before searching beneath them, then use the vacuum around borders and props. If the level still refuses to finish after every category is checked, use the separate Stuck at 99% guide.
